A personal project which interprets a scene from the movie The Royal Tenenbaums in which the character of Richie cuts off all of his hair before slitting his wrists. The scene is set to an Elliott Smith song. The piece uses lyrics from the song along with shots I took using a macro lens, 35mm SLR, and my own hair.

Show open for the mtvU show Freshmen 5. The show highlights bands about to break into the big time. The piece begins with a steadily growing pixilated glob which builds up and then explodes into the show logo.

DECISION 08
An Open for NY1’s political coverage spanning the entire 2008 presidential race. NY1 wanted to convey the entire process of the election. From the first vote until the final decision. I used the stars to act as the delegates that drive the American political process, Building from individuals to a collective voice.

MTV: RONNIE DAY
Show open for the mtvU show The Ronnie Day Project. We shot the piece on the P2 at Max Fish here in New York City. The show consisted of a different video for each song on the Ronnie Day album. In each episode the end page for the open was Ronnie writing the name of the song for that week on the bathroom wall.

MTV: WOODIE AWARDS
Every year MTV produces a video awards show for mtvU, the college version of MTV. Unlike the VMA’s this show is all about the music and the fans, not the bling. The concept behind this package was “Psycho Somatic Woodies”. The idea was that these fans are SO into the music that it has literally taken over their bodies. A guys fingers turn into drum sticks, cables come out of a girls mouth or someones stomach turns into speakers. The piece consists of live action, 3D and 2d graphics and it was shot on the Red camera.

Last fall the web design company HUGE inc. came to me to produce a short promo video for their company. HUGE is a really different sort of web design firm. They are a small, quirky group who does cutting edge, innovative work for some of the biggest clients around.Needless to say HUGE didn’t want this to be a typical corporate video. The Brooklyn neighborhood of Dumbo is integral to their identity so they wanted to include this in the narrative along with the work that they produce and the talented people who create it. For this project I shot Dumbo and the HUGE offices, conducted interviews with staff, edited and scored the entire piece.
